Transportation Suggestions For Travel To & From Logan Airport (Boston) To UConn

An Overview

Getting to or from Logan Airport (Boston, MA area airport) to Connecticut is much easier than JFK in New York City.  The information below is intended to help you determine what alternatives you have to choose from.  You will want to consider convenience, schedules, comfort, connections along with price.  The information provided here can become out of date quickly, so always check the web links for up to date pricing and schedules.  ICF cannot provide pick-up service, but if you do have questions you may e-mail us prior to your departure and we will try to help.

Air transportation between Logan and Bradley Airport (Hartford) is available, but has not been included because it is usually too expensive.  Renting a car is also an option, but has not been included because students are unlikely to have a U.S. license and also requires returning the vehicle to a off campus location.

Getting out of Logan Airport

There are three choices that most students will want to consider.

The first possible way to get from Logan to UConn is to have someone meet you.  That will require about an one hour and 40 minute drive from UConn and navigating some busy highways.  This is a good option if you can find someone who is willing to drive up and back.

A second means of transportation out of Logan is by bus to Framingham, MA (exit 13, off the Mass Turnpike).  The price is $12.  From Framingham to UConn is another 75 minutes by car.  This option is a reasonable option if you can have someone meet you.  It does not require any other transfers or waiting for the next train or bus.  You will be dropped off at Shopper's World Mall.  For more information, go to http://www.massport.com/logan/getti_logan_frami.html .

A third way out of Logan is by the MBTA (Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority).  The first part of the trip is by bus (Silver Line) to South Station in Boston.  This will cost $2 and take about 20 minutes.  At South Station, you will transfer to a commuter train to Worcester, MA. This will cost $7.75  and will take about one hour and 20 minutes.  To check schedules and see the route, go to http://www.mbta.com/rider_tools/trip_planner/default.asp .  To find the Worcester station enter "Commuter Rail Stations" and select Worcester Station.  To find Logan, enter "Landmarks", then enter "Centers of Transportation" and final select "Logan and the terminal you need."  You will need someone to transport you to or from Union Station in Worcester.  From UConn to Union Station the drive is about one hour.  Parking is available for $1 per day.  Go to http://www.mbta.com/riding_the_t/parking/?transittype=Commuter+Rail&rn=Framingham%2FWorcester&submit-rail=Find+Parking for more details and a map.
