August 2017 Events

·         August 4thRESUME FRIDAY NIGHT FELLOWSHIP at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, at 

42 North Eagleville Road, Storrs, CT 06268  lower level – access from parking lot at back of building during construction. Start at 6:30 PM – Enjoy a Free meal together with other Internationals and American volunteers, followed by Worship, Singing and Bible study. ***Please note: The North Eagleville Road detour is active. If driving, you must enter North Eagleville Road from the West only (that is from the Hunting Lodge Road / Gampel Pavillion side) as it is one way leading to Route 195.Turn left at the St. Mark’s sign posted by UConn at the roadside. When exiting the St. Marks parking lot, you may only turn LEFT. This will continue through the fall.***If walking, you must walk down the driveway for St. Mark’s Episcopal Church to enter at the rear of the building.***The construction has the front entrance blocked!

·         Aug. 5th (Saturday)– Prayer on Campus at 8:00 AM at the TOP of the cemetery (weather permitting – otherwise meet in the library at St. Mark’s for prayer) followed by a snack breakfast and leadership meeting in the library at St. Mark’s. Please bring something to share. (Jon Alumbaugh will be out of state – Ruth will moderate). We will discuss this proposed calendar and meetings / events planned for or planning for August through December.

·         Aug. 11, 18, & 25 – Regular Friday night Fellowship meal, worship and Bible study.

·         Aug. 22nd (Tuesday) – Graduate Student Fair – We need International and American volunteers to help staff our display table. Please contact Jon (jonvalumbaugh@gmail.com) or Ruth (ruthhalumbaugh@gmail.com) if you are free to spend an hour or two during the day to help greet new International Graduate students and visiting scholars and introduce them to International Christian Fellowship and invite them to join us for a Friday night meeting, Welcome Picnic and other events listed in this calendar. Set up begins at noon.  Please, all student leaders, please avail yourself to this event and join us as we share our information with people like YOU!

·         August 26th –(Saturday)-- WELCOME BACK PICNIC and FUN at BARLOW’S Lakeside Compound. Swimming, canoeing, kayaking, tubing, riding in the power boat, sailing, laying in the sun, splashing around fun!!! The Barlow family and Eastford Baptist Church are our hosts and provide the complete meal with all the fun water stuff as well. Bring swim suits and towels! And take lots of pictures. Directions and details to follow. (Release forms need to be filled out by all attendees, also for all ICF off campus events.)

·         September 1stWelcome to ICF - Ice Cream Social and Fruit Tasting at 6:30 PM at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, followed by some fun “get acquainted” activities and meeting our Leadership Team.  You will see a sign up sheet shortly so everyone can help with providing the tasting items. 

·         September 6th (Wednesday) – Involvement Fair -- We need International and American volunteers to help staff our display table. Please contact Jon (jonvalumbaugh@gmail.com) or Ruth (ruthhalumbaugh@gmail.com) if you are free to spend an hour or two during the day to help greet new International students (and interested American students) and introduce them to International Christian Fellowship and invite them to join us for a Friday night meeting and other events listed in this calendar.

·          September 8,15, & 22 -- Regular Friday night Fellowship meal, worship and Bible study

·         September 9th -- Leadership Breakfast Meal - Planning and Prayer at Alumbaugh’s house at 9:00 AM – 12:00PM

·         September 29thStudent Night – Student leaders plan and present this Friday’s Fellowship meeting.

October 2017 Events

·         October 6, 13, 20, 27 -  Regular Friday night Fellowship meal, worship and Bible study.

·         October 7th (Saturday) – Prayer on Campus at 8:30 AM at the TOP of the cemetery (weather permitting – otherwise meet in the library at St. Mark’s for prayer) followed by Apple Picking and Fall Festival at Buell’s Orchard We’ll gather at 10:00 AM in the St. Mark’s parking lot and carpool to the orchard – about a 20-25-minute drive from campus. The Orchard owners celebrate the fall harvest season with apple picking, free cider donut and cup of cider, free hay rides through the farm, a Bar-B-Que chicken or hamburger lunch may be purchased, as well as many other farm and orchard produce items available in their farm store. Enjoy live country music as well.

·         October 14th (Saturday) -- Leadership Breakfast Meal - Planning and Prayer at Alumbaugh’s house at 9:00 AM – 12:00PM

November 2017 Events

·         November 3,10,17 - Regular Friday night Fellowship meal, worship and Bible study.

·         November 4th (Saturday) -- Leadership Breakfast Meal - Planning and Prayer at Alumbaugh’s house at 9:00 AM – 12:00PM

·         November 23rd (Thursday) –  Thanksgiving Day – Internationals to be invited to American hosts homes for Thanksgiving dinner with host family. A time to share a meaningful Christian Tradition of Giving Thanks to God for His many blessings and provisions in our lives. Invitations and details to be announced.

·         November 24th (Friday) – To Be Announced - also Christmas season special events to be announced.

December 2017 Events

·         December 1, 8 15, 22 - Friday night Fellowships with Special Christmas Seasonal emphasis - meal, worship and Bible study at regular times and place.

·         December 2nd (Saturday) -- Leadership Breakfast Meal - Planning and Prayer at Alumbaugh’s house at 9:00 AM – 12:00PM

·         December 24th (Sunday) and 25th (Monday) Christmas Eve & Christmas Day - Internationals to be invited to American hosts homes for Christmas Eve and /or Christmas day dinner with host family. A time to share a meaningful Christian Tradition of celebrating the Birth of Jesus Christ. Invitations and details to be announced.

·         December 29th (Friday) – Student night – Chinese buffet at Royal Buffet in Willimantic (proposed).  We will enjoy a meal together.  Each person will pay for their own meal.
